Has hit me really badly this time, got back on Friday from the States and I am still exhausted!

Can't seem to sleep more than 5 hours at night but can put my head down during the day and sleep 2-3 hours in one go!!!

Not a problem at the mo but back to work on Thursday so need to get this sorted by then.

Any hints and tips?

try and get back into your normal sleep pattern if you can - stay hydrated and if you can don't sleep during the day. Having said that I had dreadful jet lag once and just slept all the time but you should be fine by Thursday anyway.

Thanks rsvp
Try and drink plenty of water and eat if you can at "UK meal times" don't wake in the night and snack.
Fight the temptation to nap in the day because you my fall into a deep sleep which will make things worse in the long run.
5 hours at night should get you through the day (as long as you aren't running marathons) I have always bounced back to good routine in a week. My last trip to Florida I was jet lagged for 5 days, its never a nice sensation
What I do when I get back from a trip is go to bed and force myself up again after about three and a half hours. I feel like death when I get up but it has to be done. It`s too late for that now though. Whatever you do at this stage, don`t sleep during the day because it will mess up your sleep overnight.
All the advice given above is very wise - certainly trying to get back into your normal sleep pattern and doing what you normally at the usual times. Not to mention keeping well hydrated. There is some urban myth that, for every hour that you lose or gain on a transatlantic flight, it takes a day to g back to normal. When we flew back from San Francisco a couple of year ago, it took us the best part of a fortnight to get back to normal - before we stopped fallin asleep in the middle of the afternoon! But that "urban myth" was absolutely right! Cheers, Chox.
If the time change is greater than 5 hours, it takes 2 local nights to acclimatize (when going west to east)
