...For those who may be interested Mrs Janz had surgery, a left breast mastectomy back in February, followed by a two week follow up then a CT scan to determine whether the cancer had spread, it had not, thank Godd. After various sessions for blood tests, Muga heart scan, counselling and other procedures we have arrived at the beginning of treatment. Her first chemotherapy session is to be next Thursday the 24th March. This will be followed by three more sessions three weeks apart and then four more sessions spaced three weeks apart of a different cocktail of chemicals. After that comes three intensive weeks of Radiothrapy every day and finally reconstructive surgery. Big year is this 2016 for us, wish us well, please.

Our very best to you Pp
Please keep us update on Janet's progress Janz x
Best wishes to Janet - we've had cancer in our family over the years, just last night had another diagnosis, a young family member was told he has cancer of the lung, treatment not decided on yet, I hope your Janet will look back on this period as a bad memory but a time that shapes her, makes her stronger, I know it affects all the family, may she have a speedy recovery and that you both look back on these posts and think, do you remember then..
Wishing you and Janet all the very best. Big hugs from me.
there ain't no laughs in chemo, and there's nothing you can do about your white cell count, but just be ruthless about guarding the immune system
Best of luck to you both x
As well as wishing Janet well, can I also add my wishes to Peter and to Eanceoil's relative and indeed anyone else touched by this at the moment.
Thank you Mamylynne, tough time to keep daughter and grandchildren positive when they've witnessed both outcomes in the family, thankfully i'm a survivor and they can build on that. I wish the good health for all others on answerbank awaiting results, suspecting they have it and being treated for it
Thinking of you both, Janz......such a hard time....I do wish you both well.....Gx

And to Peter and Eanceoil's family......much love....x
I'd also like to append my best wishes to Peter & to eanceoil's relative.
Best wishes to you and Janet. I know what it's like to go through this. I hope she'll be fine in time. Stay strong xx
Been there. done that with my Vera.

She is in for a tough time and will need all your support and a lot of looking after. It will be tough on you too.

If I can help at all, please let me know.

I wish you both all the best.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you both, Janzman x
I wish you well janz - my friend got two breasts off two Fridays ago and indeed has chemo to go through.

Can I ask why if Mrs Janz is ok why are they offering her and my friend chemo - that I don't understand. xxxx
The very best of luck to you both.I had cancer of the sigmoid colon nearly 2 years ago..
You have had the CT scan and thank god the cancer didn't spread. I had Dukes B classification after my colon was cut out so I was quite lucky. I didn't really need chemo but opted for it anyway.
I had about a year on Capecitabine at different cycles. Again I consider myself lucky in that respect because I took the doses at home and attended Royal Marsden every several weeks for blood tests and dose adjustment.
Thing is it is beatable for some.Just keep the will and determination to fight like hell. Do not give up and fight every inch.
Please keep us informed of your progress. I am always genuinely interested in my fellow cancer sufferers.I believe I have beaten it though I still have about another 4 CT scans and 2 colonoscopys before I am written off by the RMH.
Good luck and chin up. :-)
JJ Chemo and often Radio is offered because however good CT scans are there is a slight possibility of some rogue cells and to mop them up if there are any is the best and safest route.
Sorry to hear your op was cancelled Ratrocop, have you a new date to aim for?
so then Mamy you could say chemo is given as a "precaution". Cancer is so rampant you do wonder "who's next". Ta Mamy for your answer.
So true JJ, not many of us haven't been touched by it in some way.
