I Know Its Arthritis

I have a swelling on my right hand just below the gap between the knuckles for my first and middle fingers (my mouse fingers). These fingers are also quite stiff and a tiny little bit painful. The swelling is not bony and not painful to the touch. I know its arthritis and the pain is not bad enough to take tablets.
BUT if I go to the doctors what are they likely to prescribe
At the moment I'm of the mind to ignore it and it will go away

This is called a Bouchard's node and is associated with Osteo arthritis of the hand. Google it if you want more information.

If you are are painfree, then nothing will be prescribed but i agree with you...ignore it.......however it is unlikely to go away.

I take it there is nothing to be done?
Nothing.
Once these nodes get a certain pitch they stop hurting. You just get knobbly hands .
Sqad calls them Bouchards ,I call them Herberdens ,more or less the same thing.I have them in all my finger joints .It's one of those things and not much you can do about it:(
