If the GP confirms the presence of a lump then your daughter can be referred quickly to a one-stop breast clinic where all investigations are done on the same day - examination, mammogram or ultrasound and biopsy if necessary. The vast number of breast lumps like this are found to be benign, so try and not worry too much, and I know that's easier said than done.

Oh dear - I hope she'll be at the GP tomorrow. Please rest assured that the system works fast, she should be scanned within 14 days if all goes to plan. Best wishes to you both x
Oh Pasta. I hope all is ok. I had a similar problem earlier this year and was seen by a specialist 12 days later. The lump was benign, it was removed and all's now ok. Bit of a fright at the time though. I wish her well and a full 100% good diagnosis. xx

I told her to go to the local walk in centre if she had to...otherwise its doctor first thing tomorrow. Oh god...she's too damn young...
The sooner she gets it looked at, the better :-) Very much hoping that it's nothing sinister xxx
i know how you are feeling,i hope all goes for your daughter try and keep positive xx
should say all goes well xx
Every parents worst nightmare...I so feel for you :( Can you be ever so slightly 'relieved' that she at least found it? Far too often young people think they're invincible and don't check.Other than that try your hardest to distract yourself , she'll be well looked after once she goes to her GP.Your rational self will know that as often as not it's a cyst or an enlarged gland but that won't help your mind working overtime.Very best wishes x

Understandable Pasta, but please take a deep breath and try to stay calm. Not every lump is bad news, the most important thing is for Lil pasta to get it checked out ASAP. Prayers with you both.
All you can do is take a deep breath. Many lumps found in the breast turn out to be nothing serious. It is good she has found it and can get it checked out soon

I wish you all good news. xx

You are all telling me exactly what I told her. I'm trying the deep breath...its not working yet.

Thank you slaney...that is reassuring.
My wife found a lump in her breast when she was in her early 20s. She went to the GP who referred her to hospital but before her appointment her period started and the lump disappeared.
Apparently it is not unusual for such lumps to appear in the middle of the menstrual cycle. She's had no such trouble since.
Please try to stay calm, for her sake, she needs a rock. I found a distinct, hard lump last summer, took a very deep breath and went to doc.'s. Anxious x-ray later it turned out to be a blocked duct. I do know how you feel (I'm the mother of daughters). Thinking of you and her.
I agree with slaney...........odds are, in one so relatively young that it is an innocent lump.

I hope you are all right..she'll be seeing the doctor asap tomorrow. She's really scared.
Pasta ' The good news is that more than 80 percent of breast lumps turn out to be benign tumors or cysts'

I was thinking along the same lines as hc.. I hope all will be well. x
the ex had one and very dense mammary tissue - also turned out to be benign. This was Stateside and the turnaround was unbelievable, though here has improved (well maybe not Cornwall).

She's in London,DT...so hopefully more efficient than Cornwall.
Fingers crossed, pasta....
