Went out yesterday to a beer festival . Only had a couple drinks, but did eat there. Was on way home by 6pm. Started to feel ill during the evening. By 9pm I was being violently sick and had chronic diarrhoea. Have been in bathroom on and off all night.Dont think I have ever been so sick in my life. Scales say I am 6lb lighter than yesterday.(dont ask me why stood on them - habit I guess).
Hubby is saying its the beer but I only had 3/4 drinks. Could it be the food? I had a small portion of chilli.

More likely the beer, was it real ale or lager?
Question Author
Err, according to hubby it was real ale and and cider - no lager. I had 2 real ale and 2 cider.
I've never known anyone get that ill from beer and I've spent a lifetime watching people skulling pints.
Norovirus. It might not have been the food, it is passed on as droplets in the air, via hand touch and items passed from hand to hand, use of toilets, its on doors and doorhandles. it is particularly easy to catch when you are among strangers as you are more likely to be resistant to strains carried by people who you live with or meet often. This (and low resistance to any kind of infection) is why it rips through hospitals. Every single time i have had it, it has been after I have been to an event where there were crowds of strangers, and I am obsessive about hygiene.

Thankyou desktop x
I would suggest that nori virus is the most likely cause, there's a lot of it about at the mo.
Flippin' predictive text, noro virus.

Didnt think you could pick it up so easily, having never had it. But if it is then god its pretty rough!
Cider makes me ill.....

It could be completely coincidental, that you've picked up a bug during the day from anyone else, and it's taken a few hours to make itself known. (Not been keeping company with the Queen, have you...?!)

lol 4 beers/ciders is not a couple :)
Question Author
Lol, well actually........

Its certainly a very drastic way to lose weight. Can see how somebody who was poorly anyway would be completely wiped out by it.

lol bednobs - okay its a tad more : )
Desky, I doubt you've had norovirus twice, there is a big difference a nasty gastric bug and NV - but since you already have IBS then it probably attack you harder than others.

I find tonic water settles my tummy....
Bit too soon after eating for our friend the Norovirus, however it does sound viral in nature.

Don't think it was the beer.

A good outsider.....Staphyloccocus.....why? ..the sudden onset.
