There is an Ab'er who has had an op for this. Unfortunately name escapes me at the moment. Will go delving. I'm sure they posted this morning

Thankyou x
My husband had it done a few years ago and has had no more problems.
I had an operation - can't remember when but more than 10 years ago. It was very painful afterwards for a few days (worse than the piles themselves!) Have had no recurrence since then though so it was worth it and I think methods have improved in the years since.

Thanks for answers , my sister had it done about 20 years ago and she said it was a bad op , lots of packing involved ( gulp) its probably a better op now
( hopefully )
have you tried a sitz bath? might help relieve some of the pain and discomfort you're having at the moment...also make sure you're taking enough of the laculose that your stool is soft-runny, this will take away some of the pressure.
No straining/ sitting on the toilet for too long! Or even sitting down for long periods at all as this also causes pressure in that area.
You may not need an op at all...depends how long this has been a problem for you and external piles can be treated with sclerotherapy
Are you putting the cream high enough up the rectum to help to anaesthetise and reduce pain and swelling?

I haven`t had an op for this but I remember going to visit some friends overseas and the wife had the op for piles. I was surprised how much pain she was in and how much recovery time was involved. At one time I thought I suffered from piles but it turned out to be an anal polyp. When I was looking into the possibility of a pile operation I came across a new procedure called Halo. It seems hemorrhoid operations have progressed and there is a lot that can be done these days.
What cream have they given you? I had Scheriproct for a fissure and it was fantastic! More of a thick gel than a cream. Think they use it for hemorrhoids too.
