I can sit on mine easily, but I wear it pinned up all the time, I think I'd like it cut, but my hubby would be horrified. It's in good condition, the ends get trimmed regularly, and even though I'm 50, I have no grey i it.

"But not all short cuts are frumpy"

Well some younger folk can 'pull it off' as an attractive "pixie" type look. And there are individual exceptions (think Servalan) . But otherwise, it is difficult to think of a short cut other than the frumpy styles preferred by folk who can no longer be bothered with the fussing required by longer hair. Women seem keener on them as they get older, but their partners generally tend to be disappointed, but put up with it as it's not their hair to choose a style for.
My short hair is not the result being bothered with the fussing, nor is it pixie type. Also my husband likes it and in his words (not mine). "Very few older women look good with long hair". We both look young for our age by the way.

I still maintain that most older women don't suit long hair unless it is worn up or they have fantastic bone structure.

I would agree most men like long hair and don't like their wives to change in any way. The problem as I see it is that men don't like change and after years of living with someone quite honestly I don't think men notice that the long locks don't suit their wives any more.

But I respect that on this thread I am in the minority.

And besides male approval of my hair is not important to me. If I like it that is what matters. ;o)
And also I haven't worn a skirt or dress for years!!!!!!

And yes I look feminine.
I once met a woman in a club in N.Wales - she had hair all the way down
her back,to her waist......none on her head, just down her back!
:o) Attractive?
Old men look wrong with long hair too, but I will forgive the likes of Jagger, Richards, etc.!!
Seriously though, people should have hair as they want it and feel comfortable with!!

It's an impossible question to answer without knowing/seeing you.

On the whole I think older women look better with shorter hair, but there are exceptions. You maybe one of them.

Why do you want it cut, is it because of the hassle washing and drying it? If that is the case you could easily lose a few inches but still have 'long' hair that you can continue to wear as you do but is easier to manage.
My personal opinion is hair looks better shorter rather than longer on the mature woman.
Keep it or sell it on Ebay. There are many people who would like hair like yours and I can see where you get your screen name from.
I think that beautifully kept long hair can be lovely, however old you are - but isn't it heavy? When mine was long, I could feel the weight on my head and it often gave me headaches.
