anyone know the name of author (or title) of a novel about a poor north-country family in the 1900s, the husband was a fish filleter, they became rich (there are 2 books, the 2nd was after they'd become rich). Would appreciate this

Was it 'Hardwick''? It might have had an 'e' at the end, and I can't remember what the follow-up was called, although I think 'Hardwick' was part of the title. If I remember any more, I'll get back to you.

No, second thoughts. I think it was 'Hardacre', and the follow up may have been 'Hardacre's Luck' or something like that. Going searching now - if I find it I'll let you know.
