Over cocktails tonight it was agreed that all the birders needed "proper hats" before tomorrow's outing to the salt flats - it's flipping hot out there.

John and P have now each bought a sensible 'tilley' type hat for about 7€ - they aren't stylish, but 'will do the job'.

Janet and S have bought five hats between them - mainly in colours that will frighten a blind stork in a coal-hole at 100 metres.

John is bewildered, but getting more relaxed over a second Cosmopolitan ...

John should now down a third Cosmopolitan and hand Janet his credit card (plus PIN - don't bother faking it, she'll know the right one) this will ensure at least a peaceful night--------unexpected events excepting.
