My other half has just recently started to climb mountains and doing long walks - I so far have resisted. I want to get him an interesting useful book on places in the UK for him to explore. Im having trouble finding one thats good, I found one good book but the walks were 50 miles plus (too long) and all the others I have seen have been 4-5 miles long (too short). So far he has climbed a couple of UK mountains and been too the lake district. He has shown an interest in the Wainwright walks but the books I have seen havent been very informative. Ideally I would like it to include the best time of year for said walk, how long it is, best type of clothing to take, places to stay whilst there etc... Thanks

This isn't what you are asking for,but you could pergaps put it down for future reference.Brian Blessed wrote a marvellous book called The Turquoise Mountain. It is about his lifelong obsession with Everest and the making of the film Galahad Of Everest in which he climbed the mountain for the first time in his fifties. It's a brilliant book.
anything by wainwright would be perdect i guess,
