I have published this previously on other AB sections but am still uncertain whether I can accept the answers suggested by other AB helpers. Thanks to them for suggestions.

WHICH WORD/S CONNECTS THE FOLLOWING THREE? ERMINE, DERE, STERE. ie seven dwarfs connect Happy, Sleepy & Bashful.

This question's in the Books topic - are the answers a literary connection?
Question Author
Thank you Boxtops. To be honest I havent a clue. I have tried this quiz question on the AB sections for quizzes etc but no definite answer. ie one was Roman Road names but only two fit. Another lead was that all three words appear in a poem by Hippolyte Taine - hence my try in the Lit section. Tks.
Only link I can think of is "street": Ermine Street and Dere Street were (as you know) Roman roads, and the word "street" has as its root the Proto-Indo-European word "Stere" meaning to spread, extend, stretch out.
