Hi there! If you were to choose to live in Newcastle or Sheffield as a young professional, what would you choose?
I've lived in Newcastle for many days, absolutely loved it but I've also heard nice things about Sheffield, though I've never been there personally...Taking into consideration factors as nightlife, friendliness of people and generally life quality, which one would you suggest?
Many thanks! :)

cheers Bobbi, pity on an old man eh lol
I like Sheffield. But then again, I like Newcastle.

So ....... which is best? ....... FIGHT!!!!!!

(Sorry vina). :o)
I think, in all honesty, I'd have to kill myself if i was faced with either of those choices as a place to live.
I'm with Boo.............
I lived in Sheffield for 20 years. It's a lovely, friendly city, right on the edge of the beautiful Peak District. It's got vibrant night life, excellent theatres and great pubs. There are also lots of pleasant areas to live, at reasonable prices.

Newcastle simply can't compete with it.

Queen Victoria, when travelling on the royal train between London and Balmoral, would order the curtains of her carriage to be closed when reaching the High Level bridge at Newcastle, and not to be opened until they were in open country. Obviously Newcastle was a much more grim-looking place in the 19C.
on't bet on it Mike. I had a 'orrible night out in newcastle town centre about 10 years ago. The pubs were hovels and the folk were grim, and i couldn't understand a word they were saying.

I've never been so glad to see a landmark as i was coming home when i saw The Angel of The North.

I also, on that night, dropped my new phone down a pub toilet, i blame Newcastle for that too.
I don't think I'd like to live in any big city.......
Why anyone should feel the need to use a mobile in a toilet is beyond me, unless they were locked in and dialling 999.
no, i wasnt using the phone. There was a windowsill behind toilet, and i put my handbag on it. it fell off, i caught it midair, all except my phone, which decided to go snorkling:(
I'm surprised your handbag didn't get covered in Vaseline putting it on a pub toilet window sill!
Did you retrieve the phone?
lol, yes, im ashamed to say I did!
So it's not yours I fished out of the bog, then.
