Breaking Bad News

What is the best way to do it? It's not death type news but the person is likely to be upset, I keep opening my mouth but nothing comes out, i lose my nerve :(

I think you have to start with saying "I'm afraid I've got some bad news." The other person will probably say "Oh my god, what?" And then you just say it.
No easy way, try to soften the blow with a quick preamble, such as...

'I've something to tell you and it may be upsetting'

Then get it said.


Often the reaction is not as bad as you fear.

Couldn't put it any better than above already have.
