Lady of the loch

Just been on the web cam and as usual there doesn't seem to be a lot happening but according to the blog another hatching is imminent so expect to see chick number two soon. Unfortunately they think the other egg is not viable, but as the song says "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad" especially when if both chicks fledge it will bring the Ladies total of chicks up to fifty

And the Montgomeryshire ospreys have hatched at least two so it looks like a good year for these wonderful birds

Sadly it looks like the other two eggs are not going to hatch, still it means more food and attention for the one fledgling.
just need the weather to improve...not sure what the overall figures will be for this year

Just read the loch of the Lowes blog and they seem pretty optomistic that it's going to be a good year all round. It would be nice to think that in a not too distant future most lochs and lakes will have their own resident Ospreys
be amazing if one day they were as common as buzzards

It would indeed rowan, Trish and I first became interested in them a couple of years ago when we stopped off for a hour at Rutland Water and saw one take a small pike litteraly within yards of us. Since then we've followed them on the webcams as well as going back to Rutland every now and then but what really got us hooked was two years ago when we thought The Lady was dying, I'm not ashamed to admit to a tear in my the first time I saw her standing on the edge of the nest and realised she was going to be ok.
