Hi I was taking a stroll along a local beach and noticed hundreds of dead scallops washed up everywhere....they were obviously all dead but what could have caused this ? Never seen anything like this...looked like a mass suicide of the scallop variety! Freaky....

Mass deaths of an individlal species like this are usually down to an instance of pollution that affects them and nothing else - could be anything, but most likely a spillage / dump from a passing ship that the tide has carried inland and has killed the scallops. Shame, but that's our impact on our environment.
... or it may have something to do with the recent tidal waves all over the world from this active tectonic plates shifting period.
I once saw this in South Wales, but with starfish. There was an exceptionally low tide that day so I presumed this was something to do with it.
