Hello all you animal lovers , I need some reassurance please . My son has bought an 8 week old jack russell adorable puppy , he is sat in a cage at the moment as my huge labrador hasn't been introduced yet .
I've fed him and he ate it up . He's wining , think that's how you spell it , and I'm not sure what to do . I am witing til my son gets home til the dogs meet but I don't want to have him upset . xxxx

When our JR and the Lab go out on long walks, JR comes back still bursting with energy and ready for more whilst Lab (who is half JR's age) is flaked out and exhausted!! JR frequently does about 10 to 15 miles with my son!!

My prospective daughter in law is an animal behaviourist. She's brilliant with dogs of all kinds with all problems.
She would love to have a dog like that but her and fiance are out at work all day, so not yet..... :-(( xxxxxx

Morning lofty , and yogasun . He slept well and quiet bless him , and is using his trainer pads to wee , he has his puppy check and first vaccs this afternoon . xxxxx
oh mamma hes lovely a bundle of mischeif if ever i saw 1 .how are you and porsche both well i hope
Only just caught up with this thread. i am sure your bitch will not harm the puppy, even if she tells him off if he gets ideas above his station. Provided you supervise them, I would let him out with her and I am sure he will soon learn how to behave round her. Take them out together in the garden for wees etc and I think you will find she will be teaching him where to go. I'd certainly have her in the same room while he is in his case. Loved your message about the puppy going into the open cage to sleep - wish all new puppy owners would read this and see how useful a cage is for puppy training. Some people think they are cruel - but its just a dog bed with a lid on it. He will be fine having contact with your older one, you just have to watch that you don't take him out and put him down where all the local mutts have been.

Hi ruthann and lankeela , he followed my lab out in the garden and watched her do her bits , and then followed her back in . He's doing his bits on the trainer pad and it's getting nearer the back door already ...lol.
I've just put his cage , it's a big one btw , and placed it in the front room with Porsche and myself , and they are both settled.
He won't be going out for walks until he's had his second jabs , he had his first ones and his puppy check yesterday .
Thank you for your help :-) xxxxxx
Hi bigmamma and belated hello to LoftyLottie xx

Your new pup seems to have settled really well and will be a delight. It's really warm here (Devon) and I have been sitting in the garden reading instead of doing things I really should be doing - who cares?! :-)) xxx
Question Author
Morning yogasun sweetie , they're both asleep at the mo .
I would take advantage of your warm weather while you can hun , sit and read , it won't last long ;-) xxx
hi all yes its been a lovely day here as well perfect weather for pups how is he today mamma i never had a pup in a cage until i got cassie my mum was in hospital at the time and the breeder told me to go and get one before i brought cassie home so that i could do hospital visits without having to worry about what cassie might be up, only problem i have had is at nearly 7 cassie still insists on sleeping in it with the door shut at night barks if we dont shut the door ,

Awww ruthann , that's so sweet ...barks if you don't shut the door ...lol
Little puppy Skippy is asleep now , after making a noise for most of the night . He didn't want a wee or anything but just wouldn't settle . We are going to buy him a big soft safe toy today so he can cuddle up to it , and are going to try putting his cage in with Porsche for company .
I am so proud of him , he already sits when asks , sits still for his collar to be put on , and guess what too ........he actually went outside and did his poos in the garden this morning after his breckie :-)
Question Author
Quick update , he slept quietly all night the last 2 nights since I put his cage in the same room as Porsche .
He is doing well , and Porsche seems to be mothering him :-)
bless him glad everything is going well
mamma I am really enjoying your updates. New life in the world always makes me smile, especially if it's furry! xxx
