Could be a processed pea with mould?
Question Author
Thanks, but not a pea or spider. Turns out it's some sort of seed pod (I opened it up). It looks similar to a young Sycamore seed pod but its smooth and not rough or bumpy. It has a thin leathery texture, about the size of quarter, perfectly round, green, brown spots. On the inside-green center with sycamore feathery sprouts. Found in a driveway in southern Ohio.
This is mostly a british site - not many of us know how big a quarter is!! There are a few americans about, so you may strike lucky............
