Has anyone noticed how the price of eggs has gone up, Last week I bought a dozen free range eggs from Tescos they were �1.65, went in yesterday same eggs �2.29, bit of a rip off don't you think !

I don't buy them, I have 4 hens in the garden and for the cost of a bag of feed every month and kitchen scraps, I get fresh corn fed eggs everyday.
they are bantams so don't take up a lot of room. It's worth a try.
The eggs are much better tasting to and no additives.

I would absolutely love to have my own chickens and grow my own veg, it's always been a dream of mine but unfortunately I'm suffering from cancer and live in a flat with no garden so I don't suppose it will ever happen but I suppose I can dream eh!

The eggs I buy are called 'Big & British' and have 'From caged animals' on the side. I find them quite reasonably priced as a result. Sometimes you even get double yolkers!

I would NEVER buy eggs from caged animals, have you seen the conditions they have to live in?

How much room does a chicken need? Bet you don't get eggs that big from those namby pamby free range birds.

You obviously have no concern about the cruelty inflicted on these poor creatures just as long as you can get your cheap eggs !!

I don't even like eggs. I buy them for the pigs I keep in my damp dark cellar.

the price rise is probably dowm to recent flooding making it impossible for the free range ones to wander free, and i agree with gelda about not buying battery eggs, the way the chickens are kept is to me totally unacceptable just to knock a few pence off the cost to the consumer
