my dog has a very deep cut on its paw and the vet is shut what can i do to stop the bleeding

Probably a bit late now, but for future reference for any cut always follow :
PAD (with gauze or any clean absorbant material)
PRESSURE (firm, steady pressure placed manually on the padding)
ELEVATION (above the level of the heart if possible ie with limbs)
