When my mum went on Holiday i was in charge of watering the Plants, One afternoon about 5.30ish out of her bedding plants came out the biggest moth you ever did see. it was abit smaller than a tennis ball and it hovers when feeding on the nectar and has really long antenary things we at first thought it was a hummingbird it is that loud that you can hear it flap also it is speckily on its back, My mum has just phoned to say she has just seen it, I know its abit of a long shot but does anyone know what it is called please

Tbird, this may be the picture you meant below. It has been an amazing year josaphine. I had 2 around my Petunias a few weeks ago. Always a great thrill to see them.

Yep thats the one, I thought that was your picture Cetti.
I saw one on the same day in my garden dissapear into some bushes.
Isn't it thrilling when something so wonderful suddenly appears in your garden?

I thought they would have all gone now, so even more exciting!
Thats very true Chetti, I think if you create plenty of diversity, theres no telling what may turn up in your own back yard.
I'm even beggging to feel comfitable around hornets now, knowing that they are non agressive if you leave them alone. My crowning glory last year was to see a brambling on my bird table. All the best Tbird+
We had one in our garden the other day. It was amazing to watch.
