Sorry to post this in a section mostly about preserving animal welfare but I don't know where else to post.
I have a fairly bad clothes moth infestation and I've been through several different substances to try and keep them under control:
Raid, Mothballs, Robert Dyas Moth Killer and lately Rentokill Insectrol Moth Killer ALL of which have proved to be pretty ineffective. I was surprised how useless the two specialist sprays were - it would have been just as effective to spray the *** with water!
Short of having my room professionally fumigated, does anyone else have any effective solutions?

Lavender bags or cloves
I sympathise with you. I have never had problems with moths but occasionally a few rogue flies creep in. insecticides, as you say, are fairly useless but a good blast of hair spray normally solves the problem. It sticks their wings together so they can't fly away. Pick up the carcases later.

I'll try that Obiter ;-)

I think it's got a bit beyond the nice organic stage Tambo, but thanks for the help.

I've scored several direct hits with this cráp and the little *** just fly off!
I've used these... both eradicated moths when I had a serious problem...I still use them. I get them on Amazon or at Wilkinsons

Also these (can't post two recommendations for some reason).

Can you still buy fly papers these days? They were particularly effective, although somewhat unsightly.
Very unsightly, IMO. Would much prefer to swat them.

I've got fairly good at snatching them out of thin air!
