I wonder why? Our vet does provided that they have seen your animal in the past year. Maybe time to change your vet??

yea. I buy my fle and worm products over the counter. I take my cat once a year/18 mth for a checkup but they have told me not to take her everytime as it scares her. seems silly that you have to worry your pet everytime you want to flea them

Surprised that you can't buy it over the counter - as long as the pet has been seen in the last 6 months most practices would be happy for you to get this.

I certainly wouldn't recommend pet shop products - as well as being pretty ineffective in comparison to the prescription treatments a vet can provide, it's pretty unwise to use a product on your pet when it isn't under veterinary supervision. I have seen animals made very sick by their owners inadvertantly using overdoses or combinations of over the counter medication which was sold to them without any proper guidance or advice. At least with Frontline you can always call up the vet with any questions!

I wouldn't bother with anything other than Frontline for fleas. Like you our vet wanted to see our cat before letting us have it but a trip to the vets is worth it nothing else works!
if your cat has fleas, bob martin in rubbish, but as a preventative it can be quite effective
I'd stay well away from Bob Martin flea products - I bought some for my cats and within a week or so they were covered in fleas. I'd recommend Frontline every time, it's a bit more expensive but it really does the trick. I'm not sure why your vet won't serve it over the counter, unless they want you to take your cat in for a check up first.

bob martins stuff can be very dangerous have seen several cats have a bad reaction to it. can cause ataxia and even seizures.

vets have to have seen your animal within the last 12-18mths to prescribe frontline. as it is a pom drug (prescription only medicine) they are breaking the law if they just sell it you ovet the counter.
