What's your Landmark?

Years back we had a big old Dobie/GSD Cross who no matter where we had been, what time of day or night it was was would always get up in the back of the Estate we had at the time ready to 'go out' as soon as we got to the last roundabout on the way home, it was about a mile away and effectively in the middle of nowhere, not even lit up.

Welcome.
This water tower says "home" - even without the lasers it's visible for a few miles in most directions

The Stockport pyramid used to tell us we were only minutes out of Manchester Airport when we were flying home, I think it is/was the Co-op Bank. As a child I was amazed that Blackpool Tower 'moved' as we drove towards Blackpool, it's so big. We tried to convince our children of the same thing but they were too savvy.
Depends which direction , but Winter Hill transmitter always tells me not far to go now.

M. What a fabulous picture, look at that sky ?
Yes it is a good shot, not half as romantic in the daytime but daft how things let you know you're back.
The lift tower is actually quite ugly.
That moor has history, not all good both ancient and more recent.

If I'm coming on a long journey from the north I like to see the Mendlesham transmitter mast

If I'm coming from the west I like to see Woolpit church

If I'm coming from the south I simply like to see the sign marking the Suffolk county boundary.

(I can't approach my home on a long journey from the east without a hovercraft!)
When our daughter first came to Norfolk and we were driving down from Bolton we looked forward to seeing the wind turbine at Swaffham, we were almost these. The things are everywhere now of course but then we thought it was amazing.
