run a 12volt, wire around my three small garden plots outside my bungalow.
It wouldn't be permanent, as the cats would soon learn not to go on there.

I have just had them covered with white stones, and already the local cat/cats are using them as a toilet.

There is no children living by, and I live in a small cul-de-sac.

What the hell is wrong with people?!!
Shooting cats with pellets is really sick, another dreadful slow death. What the hell is wrong with people!!!!
A lot I'm afraid, Peas....and getting worse it seems..........xx
There seems to be some weird people around.
I couldn't hurt a living creature unless I was in some sort of danger- seen it and it's horrible.
Davemano are you saying you know someone who takes cats from their home territories, drives them miles away and just leaves them there?
We see reports in the media and comments on AB about the behaviour of our young people today....then get the...."bring back the cane...did me no harm" "Bring back National Service...that'll sort them"

But you only have to look at some of the comments and suggested behaviour from the "adults" who brought up those youngsters to see what went wrong.
I didn't say I knew them and don't know if the story is true, just something that I once heard about. Don't even know which area, could have read it or seen it somewhere.
Sorry guys, this thread is seriously infuriating me - why in earth would anyone think that it's ok to hurt cats by shock or by any other methods just because they are digging in their herbacious borders - for goodness sake! I am an avid gardener myself and have no qualms with the neighbours cats squatting in my garden - They were not put in this situation where society are over breeding kittens - the cats themselves are not at fault - it is careless owners who refuse to neuter and breed to make fast money that are to blame, not the bloomin animals themselves!!!!!! I'm at the end of my tether with this site - to re-iterate, what the hell is wrong with people?!!
I totally agree pea it is disgusting to hurt an animal and quite frankly the comments on here make me feel physically sick as a cat owner myself. Cats have a roaming commission and there's nothing you can or should do about it
Some of the 'suggestions' on this thread are despicable.

So sorry to hear about your experience, peaspeculiars.

Perhaps trt could try this :-

Surely people are talking about deterring cats not hurting them.
Although if I knew who owned the cats that keep fouling my garden, they would get the piles back. It is very unpleasant having to deal with it.
"I totally agree pea it is disgusting to hurt an animal and quite frankly the comments on here make me feel physically sick"

Absolutely - couldn't agree more - some of the comments are utterly vile.

"Cats have a roaming commission and there's nothing you can or should do about it "

There I totally disagree - cats are a blasted nuisance - apart from the uncontrolled fouling they murder millions of songbirds each year in the UK.

Cats should all be neutered (thereby reducing the problem in future years) and should either be kept indoors or carry a mandatory bell (the noisier the better) when allowed out.
You get my tick of approval Sunny-Dave.

Totally agree.
I do a lot of gardening and although I wouldn't hurt a cat I do object to the dangerous faeces they leave in my garden. I uses a variety of shrubs which cats don't like and that generally keeps them out.

"Cats should all be neutered (thereby reducing the problem in future years) and should either be kept indoors or carry a mandatory bell (the noisier the better) when allowed out."

Just like mine is - kept indoors - so that I can enjoy the wildlife in my garden.
Cats are I believe classed as wild animals. As Dave says, they should wear a bell to give the birds a warning to flee but I believe they should also be kept in at night between dusk and dawn when birds are most vulnerable, especially during the breeding season when you have fledgelings about who are not street savvy. A cat left out all night is also more likely to be killed or have an accident than in the day time according to Cats Protection.
Oh and a lot of what people think is cat poo is actually fox poo.
Better to lay out thorny twigs, ie holly or rose stems, that cats dont like digging through.
Cats should be looked after like other pets, without causing annoyance to others. Funny that serious show cat breeders/owners never have their charges stray.
Just get a dog and let it patrol the garden. My neighbours' cat doesn't come in my garden since it met the Alfmeister :)

But please don't do anything that might hurt or harm a cat.
