If you saw this on a menu - 'Freshly filled Ciabatta’s served with a mixed Salad garnish & a small portion of Chip Shop Chips' - would you expect a whole ciabatta or half a ciabatta.
To my mind 'filled' means that you have a top-half and a bottom-half with something in the middle.......and as they are about 5 inches long, I'd expect a whole one.
I think the problem with size is as mamya says, ciabattas vary. When we get them from Tesco they're nearly the size of a small baguette - but yes filled suggests to me also a top and bottom.
I would expect a whole one,
but as someone has already said they come in many sizes, I buy Icelands own half baked ciabatta's,
You get two packs of four for £1.
They are about the size of a cobble stone and we have them of a weekend, hot out of the oven with egg and bacon in them.
They come highly reccomended, just ask Mr S and Baby S. Lol
No, you're right that there are differing lengths, Mamya.
It's just that it is more usual for the 5 inchers to be offered when it comes to 'filled rolls'.
I'm sure Sherrard will let us know what it was that she actually received, instead of what she expected to receive. :o)
Sorry, was having my tea! The ones we got had a top and bottom but only half of an actual ciabatta (and a small one at that). We all just sat and looked at them in disbelief, it was about 2" worth.
