Sound like the Blue Screen of Death, weecalf, try turning off the poewer, leave for a couple of minutes then turn it back on and try starting up again.
As suggested have you tried a re-start? Unplug power cable and remove battery, leave alone for a few minutes. Replace battery and power cable, re-start.
my laptop played up earlier for the first time (thought I'd shut it down properly yesterday but had a belly full of beer, so probably didn't).
with guidance from OH who wouldn't know a computer if it hit him in the face (or so I thought) I unplugged the power supply, took battery out. Replaced battery, held down the power button for 10 seconds or so then plugged power back in. No idea if it was fluke, but it worked!
Wee, you need to try what Slackers has suggested, and try for a start in "safe mode". BSOD is often a registry error, but if it's hardware, then even safe mode may not work for you.
You need to interrupt the boot procedure before Windows tries to start.
Switch on... keep tapping F8 every second until you reach a white on black DOS screen. From there, you can go into Safe Mode.
Exactly what it say have gone to page where it say restart in the last working mode (my words not exactly what it states ) it then came to windows page with large arrow but the page was frozen .Hope this makes sense Thanks
