What shall I do with my rabbit?

About 4 weeks ago I 'rescued' an unwanted and not very well cared for rabbit from someone I knew. I bought a large run for him and everything else he has needed and also paid for him castrating. I did all this because I felt sorry for him and now regret ever getting him. I also have a cat and since the rabbit has come he is terrified of him and wont come near us as he can smell the rabbit on us. I did want to have the rabbit in the house at times as I hate the thought of them been stuck outside all day but its just not working with the cat. If I sell him how do I know he will go to a good home? Or is there any animal sancturies that will care for him? I'm based in West Yorkshire.

Not sure about where you live tigwig We have an animal sanctuary near us which rehomes rabbits. Maybe have a look in yellow pages?
Does Warren have any room for it?
Do you think that the cat is jelous or just scared? The conflict of 2 pets is always difficult but as the cat got there first I can make one suggestion.

Im not sure if this is the solution that you are looking for but it is practicle but again I am not sure about the cost.

I wish this thread was in chatterbank....

seriously its early days yet and bunny will be fine in an out door hutch with a run... puss has plenty of time to get its head round the change
I think rowanwitch's post is a good one. I think you should give it a bit longer. Poor rabbit has already been messed about enough.
^^ I agree. Give it more time if you can. Just don't 'force' them to accept each other, that will never work. Good luck.
Well done tigwig for rescuing the rabbit. I would definitely give it a bit longer, the cat will get used to the rabbit. i have 8 rescue cats, 2 dogs. I had a rescue inside rabbit who died 2 yrs ago aged 8. I have a new inside rabbit and everyone became used to her within couple months. I had her spade as she was nuzzling up to the cats nd making nests out of everything. Now she just follows 1 cat who isn't keen but just moves away. When the cat realises there is no danger all should be well. Good Luck.
