Bird song

Flowers blooming early, and there is a thrush singing his heart out on a tree 6 oclock every morning outside my house.

wonderful, bob - there were a couple of wrens chirruping away in my garden early yesterday. I love the sound of birdsong - we don't get much round here these days (cats and seagulls) but it always reminds me of joy, and my country childhood.
We have snowdrops and the daffs are starting to come up. the stinging nettles and the lords and ladies are racing up Grrr.

Certainly more bird song in the garden, a few more weeks and the bird song will almost be deafening, I love it.
Dawn chorus back with a vengance here.

Brill sunshine this morning with a hard frost just starting to thaw(Dover)

OH is taking dogs to beach today, my day off
;o)
lots of small bird activity in north wales or at least this bit of it going birding to see what has been pushed up the strait by the recent windy weather
Birds have started singing up here in West Yorkshire too, plus, getting lighter in the afternoons said the dog wlaker!
Well no one is going to believe this. I heard a cuckoo this morning. Thinking I might still be half asleep, I went and sat in the garden. Sure enough it was a cuckoo. I didn't think they should even be here yet, never mind singing.
possibly a starling that has learned the call
Barmaid, are you sure it was a cuckoo & not a collared dove? Sometimes the latter can be mistaken for a cuckoo. I have a lovely collared dove, who's quite tame and he/she coos his/her little heart out every morning. Dawn chorus starting here, too (West Wales) and my lawn is covered with snowdrops, the daffodils are up, as are the tulips (leaves, anyway!). I've even got a lovely rose in bloom in the back garden and I'm half way up a mountain!!
Birds are singing here too, very loud Blackbird this morning, bulbs are pushing through, dispite Fri/Sat morning frost. Lovely
Yes a few of the birds are getting some early morning singing practise in here too (Derbys). I hate the dawn silence in the winter...but in a few weeks I'll probably be complaining when they're outside my window and waking me up at 4am :o)
The birds are singing their little hearts out in the dawn chorus here in NI too. I usually don't hear them (seagulls where I live) but I was in the country at the weekend - it was worth waking early for.
