My little 8 month old cross/terrier bitch has been a bit irritable the past week, could it be worms?

hi trt,
i was always told, when i was a young nipper, that when you saw a dog dragging itself along the living room floor, on the carpet, on its bottom, it had worms!
is that true?
No some breeds have excessive glands for marking, they collect dust, dirt, can get infected and they itch. Some people take their dogs regularly (every couple of months to have them pinched (drained) to keep them healthy. The first couple of days, they have a sore butt. In the long run that's the best thing to do.
Nohorn
no, that's a sign of blocked anal glands!.......see your vet, the glands need to be unblocked, if the dog has worms, it will be always hungry, and be thin too!.....worm your dog 3 times a year!........no problem!..........
or she may be coming into season.
Agree with rsvp, she could be coming into her first season.
If a dog does have worms can you sometimes see them in its poo?
Hi trt, have you noticed if she is nibbling at the base of her tail at all ? If she is this could be fleas....as Welsh already mentioned 'scooting' is a sure sign of an anal gland irritation....'being a bit irritable' is not really enough information here Im afraid.
