I found a tiny little lizard in the garden today. As I was doing a lot of digging up where I found him I picked him up and moved him to another part of the garden. Now I feel really guilty that I might have seperated him from any little family he might have had with him. Do lizards come in groups and would they easily find their way back to each other?

woulldn't be worrying too much Evian, sure he'll find his way to his family!....not as if you moved him miles away!....

You wouldn't believe the amount of guilt I feel. It's silly. I keep wanting to go and see if I can find him and put him back. lol
If it's really a "him" he'll never find his way back, but if it's a "her" she will just ask a passing creature.
Evian,
have a look for him in the daylight tomorrow .. dont worry too much x
Question Author
lol. Of course a male would be too stubborn to ask. ;)
If it's only a few yards, he'll be fine.
sure he'll be fine, probably back with his family right now Evian!.......I had a similiar thing with some baby blackbirds a few months ago, they were on the ground and flapping around, not able to fly!.....I was so stressed in case a cat got to them!..........I gathered them up frantically and put them back in the nest!......they then jumped out again!.........I was beside myself!.......then I read on the internet that they leave the nest and live on the ground for a few days, the parents then teach them to catch food and fly!..........I felt so silly!......they did eventually fledge!......I was in the garden all hours making sure that next doors cats didn't get them, I felt so protective!.....hope they nest elsewhere next year, they were a joy!........but so stressful!..........I hated the thoughf of them being cat food after being reared in my tree!......
welshi lol! That's like taking the little old lady across the road that doesn't want to go! ;0)

Aahh, I would have been the same Welshi. I feel guilty if I stand on a snail.

I was really excited when I found him. I've never seen one before. Then once I'd put him down I realised he was so tiny he must have been a baby and the guilt set in.
I know Quassia, but my intentions were good!...spent hours out there that night!haven't yet lived it down, the neighbours still think that I am a crazy woman!.....not far wrong there!..Evian, sure the little guy is home now safe and sound!.......
welshi :0)
Evian .. I have a vegan friend who twice a day feeds a group of feral cats locally ! She's known as the cat woman lol!
Question Author
Lol Quassia. I think I see my future in your cat lady friend.
Oh she's a one off Evian ... lifelong school friend!
It may well have been a newt and not a lizard. I'm sure it will be fine, we accidentally dug up a newt that was in our strawberry patch, we just popped in the pond for safety.
I accidentally cut a worm into 3 pieces whilst digging today. it wasn't pretty.
Question Author
Um, dumb question...how do you tell the difference between a newt and a lizard.

Sara - 3 pieces?!?! Was two not enough? ;)

quassia, must confess that I can't bear to see any animal go hungry, feed all the stray cats around here!....they all look well on it!......hate to see animals skinny and hungry!......
here is a quick link to tell them apart, the fact that you caught it suggests it was a newt. http://www.froglife.o...AQs/newts/lizards.htm
Well I hope you dont go out dressed like that welshi! ;0) She's fed them for years welshi .. those once feral cats are now tame around 'her' If she finds any of them ill she takes them to the vets then releases them again on the streets!
