could anyone tell me the signs of my bitch going into labour?? She has started to produce milk, is this a sign of how long she has left of her pregnancy and if so how long roughly?
Also if anyone has any tips for me i would really appreciate them as this is her first litter.
Thanks

The best indication of when your bitch will go into labour is to count the days from her 'cover', when did you take her to stud?
I assume this was an accidental mating, as a responsible dog owner would have found all this out before allowing the dog to be mated.

Try to get to a copy of The book of the bitch (by JM Evans and Kay White) which will tell you all you need to know.
I agree with La Diva, why didnt you research all this before now?!
erm.....because it's a question from a BYB..... No morals or intelligence!

Before you make hasty judgments on me, and call me an irresponsible owner i'd like to tell you a few things! Firstly I have only had Lucky 3 weeks, after I took her in when her previous owners abandoned her when they found out she was pregnant! Secondly she is the 4th rescue dog that I have. Now am i irresponsible for giving her a home instead of letting her wander the streets and giving birth to her litter in some cold and damp place? Am I irresponsible for giving 4 dogs a loving home instead of them living in kennels! I could have gone and bought a pedigree dog, but i choose to adopt instead, and im irresponsible! please think before you judge, sometimes you dont know the full story!!!!!!!!!!!
Then in future could I suggest that you take some time to explain your situation! All you have to do is to read back through the 'A&N' section to see some of the idiot questions that are asked on this site. If you are as you say, a responsible dog owner I would imagine that after taking this girl in you took her to be vet checked, did the vet not explain what would happen? There are also some good basic sites on the internet that explain the process. I suggest that you should spend some time doing some research or hand the girl into rescue where they will know how to deal with her properly.
