People in adverts

Where do they find people for adverts? They can't all be models as some of them don't look like models. Trainee actors maybe?

Or perhaps fully fledged Equity card holder actors???
These days many of them are bona fide actors, often quite well known ones. Faces you recognize but names you can't recall.
In the 60's most were models and the only actors who deigned to appear in ads were those who were so famous it didn't matter. For example, Laurence Olivier who advertised some cigarette and Tony Hancock who became the face of the British Egg Marketing Board.
