Am hoping someone is still awake! I've just gone to go to bed and glanced out of lounge window and someone has parked their car completely across my driveway so I cannot get to work in the morning. I have no idea who it is and why they would be so stupid as it's obvious I can't get my car out. I don't want to cause a fuss so what can I do??
I'm not sure of the legal position now - I did hear it was illegal if there is a dropped kerb, but I'm not sure. If that is the case you could ring the police - whether they will act is another matter.
If the kerb is not lowered the police will not act, if it is they will try to contact the owner of the car, have the registration number at hand, tell the police that you need to get your car out immediately.
Hi, Smow.....there have been times when I've needed to leave home suddenly in the middle of the night....when MrG got the bleep that a donor kidney was available for example.....when I got the call to say he was dying....
And now....I could (as I have three times so far) get a call from the home in the early hours about my mother.....so...
....although I'm easy going about most things....not being able to get my car out isn't one of them so by now I would have bumped it enough to set off its alarm.......x
Are you in an area where people are working night shifts for a specific building? Even if you have a dropped pavement, the level of selfishness can be breathtaking! You are entitled to call the police to have the car moved on. Your home,or even emergency exit has been removed.
Vert inconsiderate of the driver/owner. You have a dropped kerb, so the car is illegally parked. Call the police and explain you need to get your car out.
