Will Oxfordshire council tax payers notice any difference in their lives now that their council offices have gone up in smoke? I doubt it very much.

I wonder what the grudge was?
With any luck the disaster will curtail the activities of the council's jobsworths and busybodies for a while whilst their HQ is reassembled.

In practice it won't. All sorts of emergency plans will swing into action to keep "vital services" running and the ciircus will roll on.

Problem with your Local Council then Dave?
Keep him away from the matches :-)
What's the betting they don't have everything copied on a remote server?
Well the planning office was in that building, so all the people wanting to build new offices or houses or extensions or whatever will now face a delay.

I am sure there will be other "problems" as well.

So you cant really say that people will not notice a difference.

But of course it is easy to make a "cheap joke" like this isn't it.
you can bet it wil be an excuse to now upgrade "systems", meaning not computers so much but offices etc.
Most councils always make sure they get the best of everything for themselves, no expense spared and they always find a way to justify it

They will just use it to get more money out of the population to pay for things they will as usual "justify" paying for now as they will be needed sooner or later and it will be cheaper now rather than down the line.

They will tell you how the new changes and expenditure will show savings to council tax payers in the long run...blah blah blah.

If these for the most part useless people that run these organisations are such whizzo business brains how comes they arent in the private sector ?
It was my mate that did it, he's a match for any council member....
it's most annoying for me - my plans for next week have been ruined!
You'll just have to find an alternative target, then, if someone else got in there before you.
I know that everybody moans and groans about their own local councils BUT, here in Brighton and Hove, we have the right to a REAL moan . We have the dreaded Greens and they are... oh what can I say and not be banned?... nope ! best to say nowt ! Hopefully they'll be gone in May. I've yet to come across ONE person happy with their amateurish naïve incompetent ways. I know that what we get next will also be awful though. Has anybody, anywhere EVER liked their council? There just doesn't seem to be a GOOD one anywhere. They're all just varying degrees/levels of BAD.
They are on a hiding to nothing, in that provision of services is very likely to cause anguish from a vast number of people now brought-up to expect more for less. Nevertheless torching your local planning office because what you wanted to do was against the development policy for the rural area is somewhat excessive.

It is being alleged that the individual under arrest had been refused permission to develop his rural property/land (hence making himself shedloads of money from the planning gain).
