At least one half of his job is in trouble
Obscene! 90k more than the PM too!
makes you wonder , doesn't it. If his first job was such a high- powered (high-paid) important position how can he suddenly do it in half the time.
You can spread yourself too thinly... Pressure's already on...
// While currently based in the East for three days a week, the West Midlands Ambulance Service said Dr Marsh was representing both services "24 seven". //

Er, no he isn't.

Bet he's a freemason.
If he is a medical doctor, shouldn't he be using his expensive training to attend to patients personally rather than trying to run two 'companies' ?
there's funny, gromit. freemason was my first thought. no idea why. maybe he just has 'the look'.
he needs the money to pay for all that scrambled egg on his shirt.
East of England ambulances up s... creek and this man gets more than the P.M. something wrong somewhere I think.
Where is the problem? read the link.
It was previously 2 FULL TIME jobs but he is doing BOTH jobs for £130,000 a year less. Do you want them to go back to the previous arrangement and pay an extra £130,000 a year?
Good point, Eddie.
Whilst in my experience a lot of these very senior staff are part of some old boys' network, rely on style rather than substance and often use smoke and mirrors to give the impression they are doing a good job, there are also some very talented people and we should try to use them in the best way we can. They command a high salary because they have skills (or appear to have) that most of us do not have.
Eddie, isn't the question whether either job can properly be done on a part time basis? If the answer is No, then the pay isn't really relevant.
Pay seems to be very relevant to most on here.
The medical director of the Manchester royal infirmary pays himself £ 214k

I am certain the chief exec of the same who has just been knighted gets homself a similar whack
If West Midlands Abulance Service was fined for poor pervormance while he was in charge full time.

How did he get another similar job when his record is not that good?

If West Midlands AS was failing while he was there full time, why has he been allowed to cut his hours to half time?
so it will only be half as bad
Not bad is it, considering I've not had a pay rise in 3 years.
Also, my former boss recently had a pay-off of £200,000 pounds. Again, not bad as a reward for failure and ineptitude, yet we were told it was 'value for money'.
I frankly found it obscene.
