i have a black suit which the buttons have turned white how can i change them back to black without having to change the button

You could try a permanent marker pen...

I guess it depends on why they changed colour. If it is paint that has rubbed off then maybe you can find a paint to replace it, ensuring the fabric is well protected as you do. But they may need to be replaced if the button material has changed. Surely can't cost too much to get a tailor / seamstress to do so ?
