i have just bought a cheap second hand pc for my mum, when it logs on it asks for a password, the old owner told me he had deleted the password and it should not ask for one......but it does, i have tried no password, admin etc etc but it keeps asking me to ensure username and passwrd are correct HELP
i wondered if you pressed one of the F keys could it take you to a set up area to change password or better still reformat as i would liek the pc clean ?
thanks for your help guys

Well if you think about it, pressing an F key to allow you to change the password would defeat the whole object of having a password in the first place.

If you have a copy of Windows you can re-install this without logging on to the existing Windows.

Just do a "clean" install where it formats the hard drive.

You will lose everythng currently on the hard drive.

Anyway, why not go back to the person you bought it from ?
You might want to try logging on as the administrator account and changing the password that way. If you boot up in safe mode (standard way is F8 while the computer boots up) then you may notice another user account called administrator that is usually hidden. Depending on your XP version the password of this may still be a default one. Possibly either "administrator" or nothing. If you can get into this then Start->Control Panel->User Accounts (cant remember the exact name i'm on a network pc so can't check it) will allow you to modify passwords.

Like vehelpfulguy suggested though, if you just bought the pc, it's unlikely there's anything on it, so a reformat and reinstall of windows is a good option.

I think the best way for you is to reset your windows password. The Windows password Reset
can solve all your problem within a few minutes. Importantly,No need to call a technician, no need to re-install anything, and you certainly don't need to reformat. http://www.resetwindowspassword.com/

You can create a Windows password reset disk to reset your lost or unknown Windows password. I have created one with the tool Windows Password Breaker and used it to reset my administrator password successfully.

Get Windows Password Breaker from: http://www.recoverwindowspassword.com/

Forgot windows login password just isn't a big problem. I realize a simple method to reset lost windows login passwords, just need to create a bootable CD/DVD or Usb memory card to reset lost windows password, I have made a bootable Disk with the program Windows Password Reset 9.0 and reset my administrator password successfully. You could Search Windows Password Reset 9.0 or visit their site: http://www.reset-wind...windows-password.html
