Serious Questions Have No Place In Chatterbank

Good morning.
More and more questions and comments are being asked in chatterbank that should be asked in the appropriate category. Because of the Question or comment being put in this category it is much easier for the 'usual suspects' to mock and bully anyone who has not got the same opinion on the subject as them as mocking ,cheap jibes and bullying seems to be allowed and not moderated. On News and Body and Soul questions I would prefer to answer these in the correct category which is properly moderated When they appear in chatterbank it is open house for ridicule and bully boy tactics and will surely put off new members should they stumble on the mayhem looking for a serious answer.

Hi Retrochic, Not sure what you want us to do about it :-) We cannot stop users posting where they will and as many of your replies have stated CB does get a lot of traffic and stuff gets seen there. If we start being too heavy handed with the moderating then people will start leaving and the site will be sad :-( Please do continue to use the report function to bring...

oh i dunno ummmm, I don't think 4523 moderators is too much, do you?
Just a tad :-)
>Too many mods as it is.
I don't know, ummmm. What is the optimum number? Maybe you are saying some are not the right people to be mods. I think this site is very well moderated by the Ed and the mods
^ with you there factor - are they hunting the place in packs all of a sudden?
I would concede that moving crossword questions might be a good idea - but then crosswords and puzzles has a whole life of its own.
And... I have no idea what this is all about, especially the "bully" part... I must go around with the eyes closed! I love you all xx
Mods shouldn’t have access to reports and they shouldn’t have the ability to move posts. Some of the moderation here is unfathomable at the best of times.

Just come back to this thread and it seems to have taken on a life of its own. I am not for more moderation -its already over-enthusiastic as it is, and I think auntie and her little fairies have enough on their plate without spending time moving around questions. My original post was about Posters actually making a decision for themselves on the appropriate place for their questions, but concede that its up to the individual where they post , however inappropriate, and also up the individual to refrain from answering a question placed in chatterbank. So I'll leave it at that. Thanks

divebuddy /// There is a very good reason why mods should not have access to reports. I would imagine that quite a few of them are about the mods. Some of the "post deleted" stuff is absurd and often smacks of favouritism.///

Excellent post, Mr DB, if I might say so. And the one above it, from Naomi.
One must presume that the people enamoured of the moderation here have never been a victim of the absurdity and bias often on display.

Isn't it strange how much it irks when you have a post or a thread deleted? It seems very personal.
I am not the best to put over an A or a Q, I try to the best of my ability but I do find the a regular few trying to be clever with their responce, I think to myself, what's the point, then I re-think why should I stop saying what I think to try & please these So Called Clever Posters, this site is vast! Oz Canada, Europe, at least some can see what I am trying to say, it's a pity that the Clever few can not.
Indeed tilly. Who's to say it isn't(personal)
