Hi Ed.Once again there is some grumbling about the BA system.Someone suggested that a previous star system was better (I wouldn't know as I wasn't a member then). From what I have heard it does seem that it could be a fairer system and should eradicate some of the silly BA's that crop up now and again.Would you consider re-instating that system?

This question gets asked quite often but nothing ever seems to get done one way or the other. I'm more ticked off about the BADGES system. That definitely doesn't seem to work.
I don't really have any great opinion about the old star system. I'm quite happy just to give answers and help people and to get a thank you. So many people don't even bother with that basic courtesy.

I'm surprised at the number of people that this is an issue for. Prior to the post in CB earlier today I didn't even know how many I had, I certainly don't notice when I get one on a given post, and I REALLY don't notice when someone else gets 'em.

If It's gonna cause a kerfuffle, just get rid of the whole damn thing, including the star system we used to have- didn't notice that either.

My contributions on here aren't dependent upon BAs, badges or any other rewards.....

I have no idea of how many I have been awarded (and I do know that I could find out by going to my profile page) and care even less.

I am very surprised that it is such a matter of concern for others...

I am sorry that you are "surprised" but the anomaly does exist and it is centered around Crosswords.

This topic has cropped up over the years and has never been addressed and as such will continue to cause a certain amount of controversy.

it is not so much about the awarding of BA but that of fairness.

It's a complete waste of time. How often does a poster receive a single answer, providing them with everything they need eyt they either fail to return to the thread and/or fail to ackowledge it?
As I've joked about them in the past, I don't care for Badges/Best Answers, I just want some indication that the person got what they wanted i.e. something that tells us the person has actually viewed the post but has failed to act further as they see fit.

And in reply to your first post on here sqad- why I mentioned doing away with it all together. Seems an awful lot of hassle for an extra icon to appear in your profile dunnit?

Forgot to add, some have had their answers within minutes and STILL failed to acknowledge, so it's pretty worthless.
