Hi Ed.Once again there is some grumbling about the BA system.Someone suggested that a previous star system was better (I wouldn't know as I wasn't a member then). From what I have heard it does seem that it could be a fairer system and should eradicate some of the silly BA's that crop up now and again.Would you consider re-instating that system?

It's a complete waste of time. How often does a poster receive a single answer, providing them with everything they need eyt they either fail to return to the thread and/or fail to ackowledge it? As I've joked about them in the past, I don't care for Badges/Best Answers, I just want some indication that the person got what they wanted i.e. something that tells us...

Ummmm: Here Here!

I've asked questions before and completely forgot about checking for replies.
///JTH...a personal and vindictive post which adds nothing to the thread. ///

Really?
Blimey...........
To be fair the crossword section is fast flowing, lots of questions on a daily basis so the tally of best answers is likely to rise sharply, probably more if every person using Q&P were to nominate a "best answer"
One for Danny ............. ;o)

Getz's wife steeped in ale for top reply .......... (4, 6)

For the builder Best answer- Stan(Getz) +w(wife) in beer(ale)

Sounds like a "thank you" button might be a good addition?

Sqad, I guess there are more people are stuck on crosswords than medical issues? A cause for celebration? :)

Ed, if they can't be bothered to type thank-you they probably won't click on a thank-you button either.
A thank you button would be an insult. It doesn't take long to type it
I agree with danny and AC. If they can't be asked to type "thank you" then they sure as h*** won't be bothered clicking a button either.
I dont think a thank you button is a good idea. If you just pressed a button who would you be thanking? One person? everybody? I suppose better than nothing as at least it would show you looked, but I prefer the good old fashioned "Thank you X, Y and Z I would never have got that" etc.
Still think we should have a 'like' button.
Me again, Sqad?
I agree with ummmm, a like button would be good.
A thank you button would be an insult. It doesn't take long to type it

True, but at least with a Thank You button the person(who may have gone to great lengths) who provided the answer knows the question poser has at least got the info they were after.
That's all I want, not thanks per se or badges, just an acknowledgment that I don't need to delve further.
Scorpiojo, I think Sqad has a hot key to your profile. :-)

Take it as a compliment.

Ed, you have still not answered my original post.
:o)
You do a Grand job Jo, keep up the good work x
"A thank you button would be an insult. It doesn't take long to type it"

Some new users don't necessarily know that they can post in the same thread to say "thanks". A button would be obvious?

We're trying to be inclusive.
