should i activate windows xp

ive just installed windows xp on my pc which i borrowed from a friend , xp is now asking me to activate it online ,should i do this or will i have the microsoft police banging down my door for piracy...

Messenger service pop ups

How do you get rid of these damn things, every one of them seems to be advertising a programme to stop you getting them but I tried one on a 'free trial' and it didn't work. Any ideas?
