soft frosting

I am making cupcakes for kids to decorate for a party...I am looking for a way to keep the frosting super soft so when the kids add their decortive touches it will stick.

How do I keep frosting soft after application?

I am making a hundred or so cupcakes for kids to decorate themselves, but am not sure how to keep the frosting super soft so the creative decorations stick.
