Royal Patronage To The Forces

We have a Royal Navy, a Royal Air Force but the Army is just referred to as the Army, not the Royal Army. Why is that???

Why not the Royal Army?

We have the Royal Navy, the Royal Airforce, and the Royal Marines. Why isn't the Army so called?
