There is a nest in my satellite dish, which has been used by collared doves.
Currently there is 1 adult on the nest, but just below but not immediately underneath, there are 2 steps. There is a young bird that has been huddled in the corner of the first step since yesterday morning. I checked as soon as it was light enough, and it is still there. Is there anything I can do to help it?
I would say that it is about half the size of an adult and has feathers but with a few downy fluffy bits left.

leave well alone...the mother bird will attend to chick, but not while anyone is there..
put it out of the reach of cats, then leav it alone.

No cats. No danger of any kind, but I do have to walk near the area several times a day.
I wondered if the parent bird may not be able to see it from the nest, and it has been nearly 24 hours. Surely if the parent was going to do anything, it would have done so by now?
mother bird is probably feeding it
Collar doves are quite intelligent and will probably spot you looking out of a window. We have had collar doves nesting in our garden for many years and we rarely see them visit the nest to feed the chicks. If you can put the chick off the ground somewhere near the nest it might help, but to much interference might put off the parents.
The parent may not be able to see it but it will be able to hear it. Leave it alone and all be fine so long as it isn't on the ground

He was still there half an hour ago, but just noticed he has now gone and there is nothing in the nest right now, so hopefully, a happy ending! Not impressed with the parents leaving him there all night, though!

It had probably just fledged and is now able to fly properly - parent birds will have been looking out for it but bet they're glad you were on board too. Always nice to hear stories when people care about other things than themselves
^^ what rsvp said.
I drive Mr T mad with worrying about birds in the garden. I always seem to spot the ailing, abandoned, injured birds. He generally responds with, 'Oh, no. Not something else to worry about!'.

Honestly, it's a full-time job!
