Why has the Gay community turned into bullies?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-34121411
Ironically they have been delivered from this sort of thing themselves, now they make a "sport" of picking on people that don't embrace their lifestyle as enthusiastically as they think they should. It's going to take time for all the officials to come to terms with new rules etc, why go around trying to find people to bully?

Bullies. Imagine going about the place deliberately making people's lives a misery, just because the law is on your side. Why would anyone want to force a clergyman/official to, grudgingly, marry you? Doesn't sound like a very joyous occasion to me.

ellipsis: "Wouldn't you feel aggrieved at the registrar's behaviour? " - yes, but if I knew in advance that this would be the case and I turned up just to be "outraged" then I would not expect any sort of support.
aog, they're all World Wide news. You can read any of those reports right in your own home, even if your own home is in Washington or Woollomooloo. That's how the internet works.

But the BBC didn't break the story; it's been news in Kentucky for ages, and you'll find it on websites there - but readable all round the world.
So you're assuming they knew in advance.
^ probably.
Are you suggesting that gay couples wait until this elected official is voted out of office before they apply to get married?
TTT - "ellipsis: "Wouldn't you feel aggrieved at the registrar's behaviour? " - yes, but if I knew in advance that this would be the case and I turned up just to be "outraged" then I would not expect any sort of support."

If the couple knew in advance that the official was not going to be doing her job based on her illegal prejudices, then I don't imagine they would have turned up at all.

It does appear that they turned up to be issued with their licence, as they are entitled to do under the law, and were refused by an official deciding to use her own bigotry to refuse to do the job for which she is paid.

Understandably the couple became upset, and although I would not condone shouting at the employee, it is understandable, given her refusal to offer a legal reason why she would not be doing her job at that time.

so they have TV cameras and a mouthy g1t on stand by in all the government offices do they? Come on you cannot be that Naive, think it through, she probably refused someone earlier who went away and told the gay activist rent a mob, who contacted the media and staged what we see.
TTT, suppose you wanted a licence to ride your Vespa but the official in charge - the only one authorised to do it - refused on the grounds that you wanted to ride it on Sunday and he didn't think that was proper.

What exactly is your next step? Walk everywhere, till the offical retires?
TTT - you're probably right on that score; this woman's been in the news for yonks. She hasn't issued a marriage licence since June, apparently. But it still doesn't answer my last question - what do you do next? How do you get her to do her job?

And I never said they did, I was merely referring to the BBC link provided.

Now had it been a Daily Mail link, then I am sure that you and others would have been along to make more uncalled for criticisms, than my rather polite 'courtesy' reference.
TTT, what is the difference between the muslim refusing to deal with pork and the christian refusing to deal with gays.

Surely you either support both in their religious claptrap or you think both should shut up and get on with the job?
America's the land of choice. They could probably get married by Elvis around the corner.
well, I've provided the Mail link for you, aog. It is (surprise!) far more personally intrusive than the BBC's one. Do you think they might have an agenda too?

jno, she cannot be the only option, there are always backups, what if she's on holiday/sick?

Talbot: "TTT, what is the difference between the muslim refusing to deal with pork and the christian refusing to deal with gays. "

nothing at all and if I picked up a pack of bacon and deliberately sought a muslim till operator, I would put myself in the same bracket as I am describing here.
What if there were no other choice than the Muslim till operator, TTT?

You'd be forced to give up buying bacon until such time as a till operator who was prepared to sell you the bacon was on duty....
Am I to believe that if you picked up a pack of bacon walked to the till, noticed it was a muslim you would find another till to use?
no backups, TTT - she's the county clerk and it's her job. (She got it after her mother retired from it after 27 years.) What she's done, in the name of equality, is to stop issuing any marriage licences. The courts have told her she must. She's ignored them.

***, i have never thought to ask a till operator what their, if any, their religion is before buying bacon and sausages....

this lady needs to retire if she feels unable to do her job.
I find it odd we dont read about similar incidents involving Muslims, many of them of course are far more biggoted when it comes to homsexuality.

So why is this?

I agree TTT, I suspect there is an element of the Gay community mischief making. I also suspect it is a small minority though.
