Why has the Gay community turned into bullies?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-34121411
Ironically they have been delivered from this sort of thing themselves, now they make a "sport" of picking on people that don't embrace their lifestyle as enthusiastically as they think they should. It's going to take time for all the officials to come to terms with new rules etc, why go around trying to find people to bully?

Bullies. Imagine going about the place deliberately making people's lives a misery, just because the law is on your side. Why would anyone want to force a clergyman/official to, grudgingly, marry you? Doesn't sound like a very joyous occasion to me.

Because she doesn't want to issue them to same sex couples so she's issuing none.
TTT - "If she is doing something illegal, she'll be arrested. She seems very un arrested currently."

Give it time.

Just an observation - you are showing an admirable level of tenacity and willingness to fight your corner on this thread - when I produce similar lengths of replies, it sends some of our colleagues into apoplexy!!!
*We* don't all know this is a stunt.

This couple, amongst others, have been trying to get a marriage licence for some time now. The matter has travelled through the Courts with each Court ordering Kim Davis to issue the licences. She has continued to refuse. The media have become interested in it, as the media do.

All the has to happen for this 'hoopla' to go away is for Kim Davis to carry out the duties for which she is paid.
It's only the opening salvo in the law-suit which will follow as surely as night follows day.
Does she not have to justify her refusal to refuse licences to non same sex couples?

I have learned that size is no indicator of quality Andy. To me this is a simple playground act of bullying and I've always hated that sort of thing.
Bombast v Bullying.....

Sometimes it's difficult for the casual observer to differentiate between the two.

So they don't want to get "married" as much as they want to force this woman to allow it, or they'd have done it months ago and parade outside her court to show her she had no effect.
TTT - "To me this is a simple playground act of bullying and I've always hated that sort of thing."

Me too - but I completely fail to see where there is any 'bullying' being carried out here.

The couple got heated, which is understandable, but not excusable, but in the face of blatant religious bigotry and utter intransigence, I think we can all see how this escalated.

But bullying? This woman has set herself on a determined path against her employers, and the law of the country she lives in - those are not the actions of someone who is being bullied!
Slightly off topic. But the ones who closed the bakery in America had in their list of woe. Piled on loads of weight. Couldn't eat. The Judge must have believed them, they got $130,000.

I'm talking about the legal wrangling etc, they are determined to force this woman to allow them a license against her will, they could get one up the road but no they want their pound of flesh.
TTT - "So they don't want to get "married" as much as they want to force this woman to allow it, or they'd have done it months ago and parade outside her court to show her she had no effect."

Not sure why you put the word married in inverted commas - it is the legal term for the ceremony the couple are undertaking.

I would suggest that they are rather above cheap showboating by 'parading outside her court ...'

And it's not 'her court' - she is an employee of the city - don't encourage her already inflated opinion of what she believes her faith allows her to do!
TTT - "I'm talking about the legal wrangling etc, they are determined to force this woman to allow them a license against her will, they could get one up the road but no they want their pound of flesh."

They are not 'forcing' this woman to do anything except the job for which she is being paid!

Why should they indulge her rampant homophobia by going elsewhere for their licence? That simply bows down to her bigotry and illegal behaviour - the fault is entirely with her - no forcing is going on, except from the lady in question.

DaisyNonna> Does she not have to justify her refusal to refuse licences to non same sex couples?

She was asked "Under whose authority are you not issuing marriage licenses today?"

Her response: "Under God's authority."

They do not want their pound of flesh.
They want a woman, who is paid to issue marriage licences to do her job. You may want to believe that they are simply agitating for the sake of it but she has, arbitrarily, decided to issue NO licences whatsoever thereby meaning that everyone wanting to get married in Rowan County has to put up with it, go elsewhere or try to get her to do her job!

I can't see your patience holding up very long under those circumstances......

"I would suggest that they are rather above cheap showboating by 'parading outside her court ...' " - err cheap showboating! you said it Andy!

"She's issue no licences", I suggest this "couple" do what the the standard couples are doing, or are they also hanging about to make a song and dance about it?
"...but in the face of blatant religious bigotry ...".
Is everyone who disagrees with gay marriage a religious bigot, Andy?

vetuste - ""...but in the face of blatant religious bigotry ...".
Is everyone who disagrees with gay marriage a religious bigot, Andy?"

No, but every religious bigot disagrees with gay marriage!

What makes this woman a religious bigot is that she on camera as saying that she is obeying 'God's laws ...' but since God doesn't make the laws locally, and doesn't pay her salary, there are other people she needs to take notice of first and foremost.
TTT - "I suggest this "couple" do what the the standard couples are doing, or are they also hanging about to make a song and dance about it?"

They may well be - and they would be equally entitled to do so.

Why do you put the word couple in inverted commas?

"Is everyone who disagrees with gay marriage a religious bigot, Andy? " - of course vetuste! If you have an opinion not on the list of "approved opinions" then you are labelled thus by our islington coffee shop elite.
