Perhaps saying "All we need is love" is why John Lennon was shot.

There is hope for everyone.
Svejk, I'd have used my karate training, there would have been no fuss and they'd still be looking for the "unknown hero"!
I'm sure his Probation Worker would agree with you Just Jude.

/// this woman went to Syria looking for a better life due to racism in the UK. ///

So she went to join people who like nothing more than to take part in mass beheadings, and throwing gays from off very high buildings?

Still in your mind it seems such things are much better than the dreaded racism that is rife in this country.

AOG - I don't think that moving to a country means that you join everyone who is behaving in exactly the same way.

If you move to England, you don't join everyone wearing bowler hats and carrying furled umbrellas.

This woman may well have had no real concept of where she was going, or what she would find - I don't think IS do Trip Advisor.

She followed her husband, maybe believing his cause, maybe not, we don't know, but finding it was not a society she wished to stay in, she has decided to come home.

Really, none of us know much more than those bare facts.
andy-hughes, a Muslim woman married to an IS fighter – why would she not know? Oh, yes. Perhaps she never watched the news. That could be it.

I think that those went out with car 'Bumpers' Andy.

Are both you and this woman that naive?

/// She followed her husband, maybe believing his cause, maybe not, we don't know, but finding it was not a society she wished to stay in, she has decided to come home. ///

Neither do you or I know any of that also, so it is always better to steer along the path of caution.

Really, none of us know much more than those bare facts.
AOG - "Are both you and this woman that naive?"

I can't speak for her, but I have advantage of an enquiring mind, and an excellent access to news and information, so no, I don't think I am naïve - but as always, that is a matter of opinion.

Hang on - I have stated a position based on lack of knowledge of the facts since I first posted on this thread - and you have maintained an attitude of hostility and suspicion.

So why are you now agreeing with me, that we don't know anything like the facts, when you started off bandying phrases like 'traitor' around the thread?

^^^ No but the child benefits help.
divebuddy - "I expect somebody has mentioned this before, but I can't be bothered to wade through the posts to find out.

Her husband is probably dead. She is now wondering does my future look better.....

1. Back in UK, on benefits, housed, schooling for kids, etc
Or

2. Stay here and do, er, what. Do mother's of five have much value in the Jihadist Bride market."

I did mention it - but only in terms of not making the assumption that this woman will be returning to live on benefits.

There is no evidence that she is not a career woman with her own business - so let's not jump to stereotypical conclusions shall we?
baza - "^^^ No but the child benefits help."

If she is entitled to them - and if she is entitled, then she, or rather her children, should have them.
db
It would seem that this woman does not feel the need for child benefits so should not be given them IF she gets back into the UK unless someone is going to convince me that she thought she could claim benefits on the IS Social Services in Syria.

divebuddy - I would entirely agree that your second scenario is the more likely, but I always try and avoid social stereotyping, which crops up far too often on threads involving ethnic minorities.
