I don't like it - But S(= Sun) + CITE (quotes) + ME Reverse all gives EMETICS
S for Sun, cite + me backwards.
An unsound clue (due to the extra s as above). Boo.
There's quite often things wrong with this crossword ! I don't have it in front of me, but there's an anagram in this week's that's not a true anagram. Also, the clues tend to be groan-makingly convoluted, and don't really make any sense.....the whole point of a cryptic clue is that, no matter how difficult or clever, it should read like a proper English phrase or sentence. I think The Times has the most elegant and satisfying cryptics.
