Dog Eating

Due to building work being done in the house, the dog's food and water bowls have been brought into the living room. He has a very strange habit of taking a mouthful of dried food and dropping it 3-4 feet away from his bowl, he then proceeds to pick a couple of bits out to eat and leaves the rest. I just though he was a messy sod whilst his food was in the kitchen but he has probably been doing this for years.

Any idea why he does this? It's driving me bonkers.

Oh my, he's a little darling isn't he. I was going to suggest some raw food which gets 5* rating. However, after reading your last post, I'm not sure. You say he drops the chicken lumps on the floor well I would hate for him to start lobbing raw food around your home but I don't think it's in lumps. You'd have to introduce it slowly of course. Anyway here's a link. I suppose it's just his little habit bless him. Could be a lot lot worse rr;-))

Thanks for the link LB. Do you know how bulky the packs are? I'm living on not a lot of freezer space at the moment. Maybe Pets At Home sell it in smaller quantities.
I'm sure you can buy it in smaller quantities but I expect it will be dearer. BTW Natural Instinct is another 5* raw diet if you can't get Nutriment. And in case you don't know, with a raw diet you feed your dog between 2-3% of his IDEAL weight daily. I've got a picture in my head of your dog being affronted when he sees this raw food and tossing it all over the place. Snigger!

Thanks LB, there seems to be a few suppliers of the Natural Instinct not too far from me. I'll buy a few and see how he gets on.

My carpet is going to be a lovely mess isn't it ;)
Leaving his scent on the food and his territory?
Do let us know how you get on rocky please.

Will do. Thanks all for your help :)
Just hope it works;-)) I've really no idea if it will but you can only try..
Our last two dogs always did this too.
