Yes - but about 35 years ago when it was still Yugoslavia! We drove there from the UK.
I remember the coast and countryside was very nice but the hotel
was not: a huge concrete block with cupboard size rooms.
Should think the hotels are better now.
Yes, we went there 4 years ago. It's a nice little town. Good Roman amphitheatre at Pula (just down the coast) if you like that sort of thing. Stunning coastline from there down to Split.
Yes, some of the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Ironically, Van Felt was talking about the Plitvice National Park on her radio show this morning. Fabulous, although a long way inland (possibly a three hour drive), but well worth it. Have a great time
I've been a couple of times and it's just as beautiful as you expect. Whilst there we went on a trip which took in Rovinj down the road, and I've just come back from 1 days there. Porec is full of history if you take time out to learn but gorgeous to just wander round if you don't. (Just an aside, every time we've been to Croatia there's been a storm - rain, thunder, lightening - which doesn't last long but take a brolly and some sleeves, just in case!). Have a good holiday x
We went there on our W/Anniversary many years ago, that's before the troubles, from what I can remember re/Porec friendly place, at that time we were millionaires regards the currency, we had that much money left we went on a trip to Venice.
My daughter has been going there for the last ten years. She goes to a camp site called something like Lanterna. They love it. They have five children ranging from 9-18 and there is something for everyone.
We went in motor home about five years ago and we also found it superb.
Our holidays there have always included a thunderstorm - and the weather forecast this morning showed temperatures of 40 degrees, and thunderstorms... I'd go back tomorrow if I could. Happy holiday mumstheword1....
